BUSINESS NEWS — Walt Disney Company is reportedly considering whether to sell all or part of its troubled Disney Stores operation. The Wall Street Journal says that is among the options being examined, along with possibly closing more of the retail outlets. Disney has been shrinking the chain in recent years. At one time there were more than 500 locations in North America. There are now fewer than 400, along with 160 stores overseas. After a sales rebound last year inspired by store makeovers and an improved merchandise mix, results are said to be fading again. The Journal says no decisions have been made yet, and any changes could be at least weeks away. Note: The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of KABC-TV. |
